I'm sure you could base a decision off of that image quality-wise because I don't think that the Hero 2 really improved on video quality, just functionality. I mean, I'm sure the quality isn't WORSE than the Hero 1.

yeah, my friends keep winning them in raffles lol. There's some good side-to-side videos of quality online between the two cams too. GoPro is a little too warm, but that's a pretty easy fix, but Contour just isn't as sharp (not sure if that's the sensor or the compression algorithm's default) and seems like it has a tad less DR.

hey dude saw your post in AVG, can't answer it in there since I'm bannificated, but DEFINITELY go for the GoPro. I've had experience with the GoPro HD v1 (I'm guessing very similar to the v2), and the Contour + and there's no comparison. GoPro has more photo/video flexibility, better image quality, is more robust, and the module-on-the-back idea actually works quite well. Plus, the PC casing is SUPER easy to mod if you want to do anything wacky with it.
